About the Adventure
On Saturday 19th July 2008 the Mongol Rally really begins.
As they say, "Cometh the hour, cometh the man" - or in this case "Cometh 3 men and a 19 year old 1litre Fiat Panda!"
On this monumental day, we, along with 300 other teams, leave from London's Hyde Park to embark on a journey one third of the way round the Earth, a journey in our case of almost 8000 miles.
The rally (hopefully) finishes in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar around three weeks and a whole heap of adventure later.
The trip is completely unsupported but as the Adventurists say "If nothing goes wrong, then everything has gone wrong". There are no guarantees for getting to the finish line, or your safety!
On a more serious note however, The Mongol Rally isn't just about adventure, it's also about raising huge sacks of cash for some great charities. Last year more than £200,000 was raised and it is hoped to smash that this year. Each team coming on the Rally raises a minimum of £1000 for the Rally charities.
And this is where we need your help and generosity!
What You Can Do
You can sponsor us, and / or place a vote about whether you think we'll make it via this website. The first £500 raised will go to the principal charity of the Rally, The Mercy Corps. The second £500 will go to Hope and Homes for Children. Any money raised over £1000 will in our case be donated to The Red Cross.
Please note that the 3 Wise Mongols are funding their participation in the rally entirely out of their own pockets, so all monies donated via this website will go directly to the charities.
Also don’t forget that ‘Genghis’ the 19 year old Fiat Panda will be auctioned off at the end of the rally and the money raised from the sale donated to charity.
