About the Adventure
Fancy driving the length of Nepal, Bangladesh and India in a 150cc tin-can, in 40 degree heat, during the monsoon season?
Thats what we're planning to do this summer, starting June 1st, taking part in the Rickshaw Run, driving a motorised rickshaw from Kathmandu (Nepal) to Pondicherry (India).
It is almost certainly a really bad idea but we've decided to have a go anyway. Our planned route, (which is extremely unlikely to be the route we end up taking), is about 2000 miles, through terrain that rickshaws are not meant to travel. The plan is to complete the journey within 2 weeks.
We want to make the potential risks (injury, death, imprisonment etc) as worthwhile as possible so please give generously. All money donated is split between 2 local charities: Mercy Corps and Frank Water so simply sparing a quid to vote on whether you think we can complete this journey can help to save lives in India.
Mercy Corps work on a range of community, health and economic projects in Indian towns and villages and have been operating in India since 1991; vastly improving the quality of life for those in need.
Frank Water work directly on providing clean water facilities where there are none and are helping to address the startling fact that at present, in 1 year, 2.2 million people worldwide die from disease caused by dirty water (mainly under 5s).
You can get in touch with us and follow our progress on the road via our official website listed below.
We will be very interested to hear any commercial sponsors and will be more than happy, in return for their generosity, to have any interested companies' logo emblazoned on the side of our trusty vehicle as we travel accross the Indian Subcontinent.

The Rickshaw Run Summer 2008 is pretty simple. With no preparation and less luggage one flies to the subcontinent and does one's damndest to force 150cc of Indian engineering over thousands of miles of questionable terrain in around two weeks.
Upon arrival in Nepal we pause briefly for a game of cricket followed by tea and cakes before revving our engines and setting off. We stop on...
You are among the first fans & fundraisers to be let loose upon the WillWeMakeIt™ fundraising system - Congratulations! - but do let us know how we're doing! If there is a tweak or improvement you'd like us to make, pop the full details of it in here and our technical guru James will be onto it in a flash gordon!

John Brander / June
Best wishes from all of us at June!

As peter's personal physio it is vital for his rehabilitation (after dare i say an RTA involving a funnel, a bottle of baby lotion & a very scared but still very big hamster!!) that he must do all the driving and heavy lifting and under no circumstances must he be left alone near animals - unless he has been quarantined correctly!!
Denise Edwards
Good luck to you all and special good wishes to Pete. We will be following your adventure on the website. Keep safe Love D and K
