Bad Sneakers Africa Tour

About the Adventure
Me, and my brother, taking the good name of Bad Sneakers across the African continent, and rubbing it in to the harsh and unforgiving sands of the Sahara desert.
In summary, we're driving around 4,500 miles from London, to Cameroon in West Africa. We're setting off on 18th July, along with 100 other teams. It will take about 4 weeks, although an 'expert' has recently advised me it's possible to do it in 9 days. Hmmmmm. And of course it's all in a good cause, as we're raising a minimum of £1,000 for the charities.
The Charities
We're raising money for 'Send A Cow' which helps poorer farmers and communities in Africa to become self-reliant by providing them with livestock, training and advice. They work with some of the most vulnerable groups in Africa, including children orphaned by war, families affected by AIDS, and disabled people.
We're also raising money for FRANK Water, a charity and social enterprise that raises money by selling 'ethical' bottled water and donating 100% of the profits to clean water projects in Africa. FRANK funds sustainable projects that provide clean, safe drinking water.
The Car
Did I mention that one of the official rules of the rally is that we have to do it in what is generally recognised to be a "crap car" with a maximum engine size of 1 litre. Er, that's travelling 4,500 miles at the hottest time of the year, across one of the hottest places on Earth (that'd be the Sahara), in what can best be described as a rust bucket of a jalopy. Ours cost £600, has 3 cylinders, and was made in 1989. Ahem. Photos below......
What You Can Do
Please support us by donating via this website. You can sponsor us, and / or place a vote about whether you think we'll make it. The first £500 raised will go to Send A Cow, the second £500 will go to Frank Water. If we get beyond that target then we are able to raise money for a 3rd charity which we might do, so all suggestions welcome! We will also be using additional monies raised above the £1,000 limit to pay for the car, which will be donated at the end of the rally to a local Cameroonian NGO. As part of our contribution to the escapade we will be paying for the rally registration fee and all visas and insurance etc from our own money.
Thank you for your support!

Massive, ridiculously hot, covered in deserts and some of the wildest jungles in the world, vast stretches that roads just don't reach; Africa calls the Adventurist like a siren in the night. Come hither and do thyself a mischief, she says.
The Adventurists Africa Rally starts in London's Hyde Park on Friday 18th July and after a huge party with the Mongol Rally teams heads south to...

Good luck guys! Remember, if your car engine overheats, turn the heater on high to cool the engine (Er, actually that probably won't help much in the DESERT...). Attaching a four leaf clover to your page to bring you luck. xx
