I, Dan, have just worked out that this site actually has a blog as well as the other (www.mongolrally.com/bef) - and as this site is neater, cleaner, and generally more co-operative than the Mongol Rally one, I thought we'd use this one.
We have got the car. By this I mean we have had the car as of May. This is actually quite big news, considering we spent ages in a faff thinking about fire engines and other slightly hare-brained modes of transportation. It (the beast, hereafter known as Atilla), is a Toyota Corolla 1.3, which is nearly as old as my brother - it was born in 1994 - to die in 2008.
Our fundraising is going excellently, with some very generous donations, notably from Peter Symonds College, down in Winchester town. We had a very successful day at Winchester Day - the generosity of both the boys at the school (who couldn't afford it) and their parents (who were very patient with what, to the untrained eye, looked like a gaggle of 19-year-old boy racers).
We have had our first official press mention, in the Hampshire Chronicle, see it in their delightful online archive: http://www.hampshirechronicle.co.uk/mostpopular.var.2342246.mostviewed.mongolia_is_their_destination.php
The Buckingham and Winslow Advertiser have also promised us some serious column inches in their 1st July edition.
Tom and Oscar are firmly on board (as far as Turkey and Iran respectively) and being lovely about fundraising, as expected. Everything appears to be falling into place - but complacency has no place in the British Expeditionary Farce. Anyone suspected of complacency will face a musket squad, consisting of the three other team members.
Ta ta for now, and more news will be forthcoming,
Dan
Go on, show some love! Be the first to say something.
