About the Adventure The Adventurists Africa Rally

After our huge success on the Ramshackle Rally last year, Jak Kennedy and Nick Hodgson have decided to embark on another adventure, this time something a little more challenging!

We are taking part in a rally from London to Cameroon in West Africa – leaving Hyde Park on Saturday 18th July 2008.

In the process we hope to raise around £1500 for charity,

We plan to send a third of the money raised to the ‘Sandpiper Trust’. The ‘Sandpiper Trust’ (www.sandpipertrust.org) provides GPs and nurses living and working in rural Scotland with appropriate emergency medical equipment known as The Sandpiper Bag. The Sandpiper Bag enables lifesaving help to be administered to a casualty, carried out during that critical period known as the “Golden Hour” which is the immediate time after an accident and before the casualty gets to a hospital. Sandpiper Bags with their standardised layout and contents have now become widely recognised as an international standard for immediate care.

In addition to the Sandpiper Trust our aim is to raise as much money as possible for charities including ‘Send a Cow’ and ‘Frank Water Projects’. ‘Send a Cow’ (www.sendacow.org.uk) enables poor farmers in Africa to become self reliant by providing them with livestock, training and advice.

‘Frank Water Projects’ (www.frankwater.com) provides sustainable, affordable, clean water projects using the latest technology. They work in partnership with Water Health International (technologists) and Naandi (local NGO), to implement clean water projects that have a huge positive impact for the communities.

The Adventurists Africa Rally

Massive, ridiculously hot, covered in deserts and some of the wildest jungles in the world, vast stretches that roads just don't reach; Africa calls the Adventurist like a siren in the night. Come hither and do thyself a mischief, she says.

The Adventurists Africa Rally starts in London's Hyde Park on Friday 18th July and after a huge party with the Mongol Rally teams heads south to...
