About the Adventure
Captain Claire, Peter Pinapple and Bernard the confused navigator need your support! For those who aren't fully acquainted with how we plan to spend June 2008, here are very few details:
We're driving a 150cc, 7 horsepower MotoRickshaw AKA TukTuk from Kathmandu, Nepal to Pondicherry in South-East India. This epic adventure of 2000 miles across deserts, jungles, cityscapes, and Yeti country (AKA the Hima-frickin-layas) in possibly the world's most dangerous vehicle is sure to be an absolute adventure.
More details can be found at: http://rickshawrun.theadventurists.com/
And the point of all this carbon burning? You may well ask. Claire, Peter and Bernard are all kind-hearted souls, and have taken it upon themselves to forgo their holiday allowance for the next century to take part in this race for Charity. Yes, CHARITY.
We aim to raise thousands upon thousands of British pounds (gold bullion and €uro also accepted, so there is no excuse for all u Germans out there) for the Mercy Corps. Who are Mercy Corps, we hear you cry? Well, Mercy Corps are a pretty solid bunch of people, who have been in India working with local NGOs since 2001. The Mercy Corps act as facilitators and endorsers of local projects, and strive to encourage community collaboration and fulfil dire health and economic needs.
Oh no we are not just supporting one Charity, but TWO!! The second charity is FRANK (http://www.frankwater.com/)it is all about nice, fresh clean water. I m sure all off you enjoy a nice glass of water every now and then. But sadly a lot of people cannot access such luxurious treats. FRANK are building Water Projects which use a 5 filter system to provide clean water to communities.
And if you are asking yourself why they are called FRANK! Because they are FRANK about water!! So lets all be frank about water just like FRANK, and donate money so that people in India can enjoy good quality water.
All the money we raise (plus an extra 28% if you use willwemake it.com) will go straight to the good people at Mercy Corps and FRANK, and it will make a huge difference to those who have not had the opportunities and privileges that we have so readily enjoyed.
We won't eulogise any more about the good works of the Mercy Corps and FRANK have done, and can in no way defend this mass e-mailing/facebooking approach; but for those who have spoken to us about the whole operation, you will know how much it means to us to raise as much money as possible whilst risking life and limb in our Rickshaw.

The Rickshaw Run Summer 2008 is pretty simple. With no preparation and less luggage one flies to the subcontinent and does one's damndest to force 150cc of Indian engineering over thousands of miles of questionable terrain in around two weeks.
Upon arrival in Nepal we pause briefly for a game of cricket followed by tea and cakes before revving our engines and setting off. We stop on...
You are among the first fans & fundraisers to be let loose upon the WillWeMakeIt™ fundraising system - Congratulations! - but do let us know how we're doing! If there is a tweak or improvement you'd like us to make, pop the full details of it in here and our technical guru James will be onto it in a flash gordon!
