About the Adventure NOTE: DO NOT USE GIFT AID UNLESS YOU'RE A UK CITIZEN!

We're 3 Cal students deciding to make our college lives even more memorable by hauling about 2500 miles through India! Our team consists of Allen Rodriguez, Brian Wong, and Sonny Sabhlok and on June 1st, 2008, we will hop into a 7 horsepower Rickshaw along with 70 other teams all planning their own route to reach the finish line. Starting in Kathmandu, we will attempt to conquer India's worst roads during the hottest and wettest time of the year - the monsoon season. Hopefully with some luck, and your prayers, we will reach Pondicherry, a former French colonial site, a mere 2 weeks later.

Despite all the fun times that are to be had, as well as some trials and tribulations, our energy is focused on raising about $2000 for two great charities: Mercy Corps India (http://rickshawrun.theadventurists.com/index.php?page=mercycorps), and Frank Water Project (frankwaterproject.com). Mercy Corps does work involving community building as well as sanitation awareness, while the Frank Water Project is involved with delivering clean water to the poorest areas within India. India houses roughly 300 million people living at or below the poverty line, which is a rough monthly per capita consumption expenditure of less than $13. We want to do what we can to raise funds and possibly donate clothes or gifts to those locals we come across during our journey. The money you donate will be directly charge into these charities focusing on poor groups within India to build a better community and provide them with the resources to mobilize out of poverty.

We have pledged to raise $2000 but we hope to raise more and we can only do this with your help. Please help us accomplish our goal by donating today. Even with just a few dollars, you will be making a huge difference. Donations through this site is very simple, very efficient, and very secure.

Thanks for all of your support and contributions!

Our Challenge //

Rickshaw Run Summer 2008

The Rickshaw Run Summer 2008 is pretty simple. With no preparation and less luggage one flies to the subcontinent and does one's damndest to force 150cc of Indian engineering over thousands of miles of questionable terrain in around two weeks.

Upon arrival in Nepal we pause briefly for a game of cricket followed by tea and cakes before revving our engines and setting off. We stop on...
