About the Adventure
Not so long ago, Joanna and Sharon led quiet, unassuming lives. But deep down, they craved adventure... Excitement... A new challenge...
They pondered, plotted and planned. One 'google' later, they discovered their destiny and signed up to much more than just a holiday... They entered the Rickshaw Run.
This is no ordinary road trip. They must drive their mighty rickshaw over 3,500km from Kathmandu in Nepal to Pondicherry in Southern India across mountains, jungle and open roads, all while braving the monsoon.
They will have be no support... It's just 2 fearsome girls, a pink rickshaw and a couple of spanners.
But of course, there is a serious side to all this. We will be raising money for two extremely worthy causes - and EVERY PENNY we raise will go directly to help them.
FRANK Water aims to supply the UK’s demand for bottled water in a socially responsible way – by giving the net profits (100%) to technology based clean water projects around the world.
Every one litre of FRANK spring water bought in the UK helps fund 200 litres of clean, safe drinking water for villagers at the FRANK projects in India and Africa.
By funding clean water projects, FRANK aims to bring about positive change in some of the world’s under-served communities. By drinking FRANK, you can be part of that positive change.
MERCY CORPS is an international humanitarian aid and development charitable organization that focuses on emergency relief services, economic development and civil society. They work amid disasters, conflicts, chronic poverty and instability to unleash the potential of people who can win against nearly impossible odds

The Rickshaw Run Summer 2008 is pretty simple. With no preparation and less luggage one flies to the subcontinent and does one's damndest to force 150cc of Indian engineering over thousands of miles of questionable terrain in around two weeks.
Upon arrival in Nepal we pause briefly for a game of cricket followed by tea and cakes before revving our engines and setting off. We stop on...
