About the Adventure
The Mere Mongols are two ambitious, brave and seemingly stupid individuals from the mighty town of Haslemere (or The Mere if you will), who this summer will set upon a glorious charity-fuelled adventure.
This year, over 200 cars will set off from London’s Hyde Park in an attempt to reach Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Of course if one were an experienced off-road driver in a brand new Landrover, a Toyota Hi-Lux or any other high-powered 4X4, then this probably wouldn’t be too stressful an experience. But imagine if you swapped the 4X4 for a 1988 Nissan Micra LS, barely suitable for the M1 let alone cross-country driving across desert wastelands. Further more; imagine if you swapped the experienced off-road drivers for two students in their early twenties with no such experience and not an ounce of car knowledge between them. Suddenly you have a bit of an adventure on your hands! We, the drivers in question, are Will Smith and Dave Harrison - A.K.A The Mere Mongols. The event is known as the Mongol Rally, a 10,000 mile drive from London to Mongolia, in a strictly sub 1-Litre car (the more unsuitable the better), all organised in order to raise money for some great Charities.
This adventure is not just about putting ourselves in ridiculous predicaments and getting out of them again, it is primarily designed to raise awareness and aid for both Mercy Corps Mongolia, and Hopes & Homes for children - our chosen charities for this endeavour.
So please, donate whatever you can! Or why not share your oppinion and vote yes or no to whether or not you think these idiots will make it to Mongolia. The vote will only cost you £1.20, all of which will be donated to our chosen charities.
