About the Adventure
So we have booked the time off work and we have bought our round the world tickets – first stop Kathmandu!
Rickshaw Run
Seventy teams will “race” in auto rickshaws, over 2000 miles from Kathmandu to Pondicherry. Altitude, blistering heat and monsoon rains combined with the pot-holed roads and dirt tracks of India add to the challenge.
The Rickshaw
For those of you not familiar with the auto rickshaw (tuk tuk), it has a top speed of 55kmph and an engine similar to that found in a lawn-mower.
The Route
There isn’t one! We start in Nepal in the Himalayas and finish in Southern India, at Pondicherry. How we get there is up to us – it’s an adventure.
The Charities
The Rickshaw run supports two fantastic charities, Mercy Corps and Frank Water Projects.
Mercy Corps strives to improve the lives of rural agricultural communities. They work to democratically identify and address common problems through a community mobilisation process to improve quality of life through economic development, health, and youth initiative.
Frank Water works towards providing sustainable, affordable, clean water using the latest technology. Frank Water Projects work in partnership with Water Health International (technologists) and Naandi (local NGO) funding to implement clean water projects that have a huge positive impact for the local communities.
Please note that all of the money raised will go directly to the charities and will not be used to cover any costs of our trip. The costs of flights, accommodation, repairs, renting the rickshaw, the entry fee, food etc... will all be covered by ourselves and will not be taken from what you donate.
We are hoping to raise as much as possible in support of these two charities and are grateful for any donations received.

The Rickshaw Run Summer 2008 is pretty simple. With no preparation and less luggage one flies to the subcontinent and does one's damndest to force 150cc of Indian engineering over thousands of miles of questionable terrain in around two weeks.
Upon arrival in Nepal we pause briefly for a game of cricket followed by tea and cakes before revving our engines and setting off. We stop on...
You are among the first fans & fundraisers to be let loose upon the WillWeMakeIt™ fundraising system - Congratulations! - but do let us know how we're doing! If there is a tweak or improvement you'd like us to make, pop the full details of it in here and our technical guru James will be onto it in a flash gordon!
