About the Adventure
We are Sheryl, Becky and Lucy. Together we make up the Soyombo Racers. In July 2008 we will join 299 other teams to begin a humongously ridiculous, cross-continental race to Mongolia. And we will cross the 10,000 + mile journey to Mongolia in a little red car names Uwe.
"Why the devil are you doing that!" I hear you cry at your computer screen. Why?.. for the adventure, for the japes, for the fine Mongolian cuisine, for the stories at the pub afterwards but most importantly to raise money for Mercy Corps, Macmillan Cancer Care and Hope and Homes for Children.
This is where you can be part of our adventure! Think of this page as a slightly less seedy version of the gambling shop, where you bet whether or not we'll make it all the way to Mongolia in one piece.
Whaduya say? Put your monkey where your mouth is and place your bets now!!
ODE TO MONGOLIA
"Well here is the plan for our continental adventure,
The journey is long and a real butt clencher"
"We'll be travelling in a car that is ultimately crap,
Lucy in the driving seat and Sheryl on my lap.
We'll mission our way through distant lands,
Across mountains, past bandits, over shifting sands"
"To a place called Mongolia where we'll celebrate like kings,
Eating sheeps eyeballs and other strange things!"
And on top of it all, our epic odyssey,
We'll be raising tons of money for charity"
"Oh really!" said Lucy "That sounds just great.
I'm sure our family and friends would want to donate!"
"Yes, you know, I think you are right,
In fact, they can donate right here, on this website."
"After working out how likely we are to arrive,
They can place their bets on us making it alive"
"That sounds a bit dark! I'm sure we'll survive,
We are Soyombo Racers, we're born to drive
So don't you worry, we'll come to no harm,
We'll make it with the strength of old Genghis Khan!"
