About the Adventure
What better way to raise money for charity than drive 6000 miles across South America in a banged up VW Beetle?
Ruta del Sol is going to take place in South America, commencing in Quito Ecuador on 2nd February 2008 and ending in Rio de Janeiro Brazil roughly three weeks later. This equates to roughly 6000 miles of Andes Mountains, Ancient Ruins and Amazonian Jungle, our plan is to drive south from Ecuador via Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina and finally Brazil. All teams participating will all be driving old school air-cooled VW Beetles; we plan on purchasing a 1970 model.

Our team is made up of Ed, Matt and Ingo. We have to raise a minimum of £500. There are currently two main charities Mercy Corps and Ninos Peces to choose from.
All money goes straight to the charities involved and you can also give GiftAid, basically tax relief, on any donations you make - just remember to tick the box.
The first charity is called ‘Mercy Corps’, for aid with their South American projects. They have worked with the Adventurists before on other events in India, Nepal and Mongolia.

The second is called ‘Ninos Peces’, a very small Ecuadorian charity, and who will very much appreciate any donations. They help children with Ichthyosis, a skin disorder resembling scaly skin and an appearance superficially similar to that of Leprosy. As this charity is not UK registered, we are not able to promote them through Will We Make It. If you wish to donate to them we will present your donations in cash to the charity at the launch in Quito, Ecuador.

The Ruta Del Sol is the first foray into the wilds of Latin America for the Adventurists. Thousands and thousands of miles of proper hardcore Jungles and rainforest, the Andes, awful roads, complete absence of roads, tropical weather and lest we forget, the carnival. Along with raising sacks of cash for awesome charities it's a heady combination I think you'll agree.
