About the Adventure
***NEWS FLASH**** Ed and Rob have lost the plot!
Ed and myself will be heading to India this June to take part in the Summer Rickshaw Run. Some of you may have heard of this but for those that havn't, here is a brief outline of what's involved.-
The Rickshaw Run pits you and a trusty three wheeled mechanical marvel against thousands of miles of terrible roads, jungles, deserts and every thing the Subcontinent can throw in your face.
More about the Summer Rickshaw Run 2008 : -
Starting 4000 feet above sea level in Kathmandu, Nepal, teams will be pitted against the Himalayas before heading south through the madness that is India, finishing approximately 2 weeks and 2000+ miles later in Pondicherry in the south east of the country. Altitude and monsoon rains added to the usual dirt tracks, jungle, bad roads and awful driving combine to make the Summer Run a fine vintage of adventure and stupidity.
2000 miles is not that far I hear you cry. Well, it is when you a driving it in a 3 wheeled auto rickshaw with 7bhp (see the attached picture) designed for short journeys around town!
Please remember that the whole point of this rally is to raise money for 2 very worthy causes. These are Mercy Corps and Frank Water projects.
Mercy Corps works amid disasters, conflicts, chronic poverty and instability to unleash the potential of people who can win against nearly impossible odds. Since 1979, Mercy Corps has provided £600 million in assistance to people in 100 nations. Supported by headquarters offices in North America, Europe and Asia, the agency's unified global programmes employ 3,400 staff worldwide and reach nearly 14.4 million people in more than 35 countries.
FRANK Water Projects has funded the installation of 4 clean water projects in Andhra Pradesh, India. An additional 4 more projects are currently under development- benefitting 48 000 people to date. Each project costs £6,700 and provides clean, safe drinking water for up to 6,000 people in the surrounding communities. Once a project is set up, it is owned, run and maintained by the local community.
***Please note that every penny raised will be going directly to the charities, Ed and myself have paid our entry fees, flights and all costs out of our own pockets. We are just such charitable guys!***
Thanks for backing us, we really appreciate it!

The Rickshaw Run Summer 2008 is pretty simple. With no preparation and less luggage one flies to the subcontinent and does one's damndest to force 150cc of Indian engineering over thousands of miles of questionable terrain in around two weeks.
Upon arrival in Nepal we pause briefly for a game of cricket followed by tea and cakes before revving our engines and setting off. We stop on...
You are among the first fans & fundraisers to be let loose upon the WillWeMakeIt™ fundraising system - Congratulations! - but do let us know how we're doing! If there is a tweak or improvement you'd like us to make, pop the full details of it in here and our technical guru James will be onto it in a flash gordon!
