About the Adventure It may have been the spirit of adventure that made us decide to go on the Mongol Rally 2008, but now that we're in the full swing of it, we can see that there is a real chance to raise some decent cash for charity.
This is not the first charity mission we have been involved in. Months after the tsunami in Indonesia, we travelled the length and breadth of Sri Lanka with the Lions Club of Mijas in Spain, who were building homes for the stricken families who had lost everything. It was a gruelling trip, but the Mongolia venture will be much more challenging.
This is the first time, however we have ever embarked on a fundraising expedition of any kind, and we're learning as we go along.
But we're delighted to find that there is a lot of goodwill out there with people backing our journey and pledging to dig deep to help our chosen charities.
So the journey begins in London in July and, all going well, if ou 1000 cc car takes us across the globe, ends in Mongolia around four weeks later.
You can visit our website: www.theoddcouplemongolrally.co.uk for more details.

Raising cash for some great charities is at the heart of the Mongol Rally, and with 300 cars taking part, it's possible to raise £300,000. This will be directed to the charities in Mongolia and to support projects in countries along the route.
Please donate on the button below - then if you wish, email us at smithdingle@gmail.com with your photo.
This money goes direct to the charity.
