About the Adventure
We're not entirely sure how it happened. One minute we're both fully functioning and vaguely respectable 9-5 minions with a fair amount of common sense and no intention of doing anything silly any time soon. The next minute we've taken a month off work, said our goodbyes to anyone who cared, and signed our souls to the devil to take part in the RUTA DEL SOL. It must be Vocho Akathisia!

A huge part of the Ruta is the plan to raise loads of money for charity. The charity we've nominated is Fundecruz, a local Ecuadorian social development foundation which was set up to help the children of Afro-Ecuadorian communities in Chota, one of the poorest and most deprived regions of Ecuador. UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: as of today (9 January) all new funds raised from now on through our site will go to Mercy Corps (www.mercycorps.org.uk), who run a number of amazing projects throughout Latin and South America. In addition, all funds raised in cash will go to Ninos Peces, a very small local Ecuadorian charity.

The Ruta Del Sol is the first foray into the wilds of Latin America for the Adventurists. Thousands and thousands of miles of proper hardcore Jungles and rainforest, the Andes, awful roads, complete absence of roads, tropical weather and lest we forget, the carnival. Along with raising sacks of cash for awesome charities it's a heady combination I think you'll agree.
